Earlier this fall, just days after she won the Grand Slam championship, Naomi Osaka became the newest brand ambassador for Nissan. Osaka is just 20 years old but has already found incredible success in the sport of tennis, having just won the Grand Slam title on Sept. 8.
With this win, Osaka officially became the first Japanese player to win the women’s singles Grand Slam. Osaka’s mother is Japanese, and her father is Haitian-American. Though she was raised in the United States from the age of three, she plays for Japan when it comes to tennis.
As Nissan’s brand ambassador, Osaka will attend several global events for Nissan. In return, Nissan will support her tennis playing. For example, Nissan will supply vehicles to Osaka at her tour destinations.
“With a combination of grit and grace, Naomi Osaka is not afraid to take on the best tennis players of our time, and win,” remarked Asako Hoshino, senior vice president, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “This is the same spirit of performance that Nissan has embodied throughout our history — exemplified most recently by the Nissan LEAF, which defied the odds to become the best-selling electric vehicle in the world. And just like Naomi, Nissan is just getting started.”
