The Nissan Leaf continues to be the world’s best-selling electric vehicle (EV). In fact, Nissan Leaf sales increased 10 percent year-over-year, as a testament to how well-loved the Leaf is — and how quickly the electric vehicle movement is growing.
Furthering the Nissan Leaf’s status as the world’s best electric vehicle is its recent distinction as the “2018 World Green Car” at the World Car Awards in March.
The redesigned Leaf hit dealerships in October of last year and immediately saw a surge in popularity. Advanced technologies available on the new Leaf include ProPILOT autonomous driving technology (called ProPILOT Assist here in the US), the e-Pedal, and ProPILOT Park. For 2018, the Leaf also boasts improved range — up to 151 miles on a single charge.
“The strong performance of Nissan’s EV models globally is a testimony to our expertise and leadership in electric vehicle technology,” remarked Nissan Executive Vice President Daniele Schillaci, who heads the company’s electric vehicle business. “The unprecedented response to the most advanced electric car in the world, the Nissan Leaf, contributed significantly to the robust growth of Nissan in 2017. The Nissan Leaf is the best-selling electric car in the world, with the widest reach and the greatest availability. We expect its continuous leadership in 2018.”
This year, the Nissan Leaf enters new territory, released for the first time in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Hong King, Malaysia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Uruguay.
