For years, Nissan has been a leader in the automotive industry when it comes to its vehicles. It’s also been ranked at the top thanks to its use of eco-friendly technology, energy efficiency, and zero-emission vehicles. This year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken notice of this once again and has awarded the Japanese carmaker the title of 2018 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year — Sustained Excellence Award for the seventh year in a row.
“The 2018 ENERGY STAR® Partners of the Year have demonstrated real leadership, showing how American families and businesses can save energy, save money, and reduce air emissions,” said Bill Wehrum, EPA assistance administrator for Air and Radiation.
Currently, Nissan is working to share its energy-saving knowledge with local schools in Central Mississippi and Middle Tennessee, where the brand has a heavy presence. The carmaker has managed to help most of the schools in Mississippi’s Ranking County Public School District become ENERGY STAR® certified over the course of twelve years.
These actions come from Nissan’s dedication to help cut its energy usage by more than 30% in its paint process, a switch to more efficient LED lights in its vehicles, and its employee education program that focuses on energy management.
